Curiosity sparks.
A one-page, print-and-use guide for homeschool families. Pick one spark this week. The goal isn’t the right answer; it’s the habit of asking.
Parent move of the week: when a question comes up, answer with “Let’s find out together.” Keep a “wonder list” on the fridge and chase one item each week.
Early (toddler–K)
- Why walk: on a walk, point at one thing and ask “why?” together.
- Sound map: sit outside 3 minutes and draw every sound you hear.
- Fizz test: baking soda + vinegar in a cup. What makes it bubble?
Elementary
- Fingerprint gallery: pencil + clear tape prints. Loops, whorls or arches?
- Backyard survey: find 5 living things and look them up on iNaturalist.
- Predict first: before any experiment, write a guess. Compare after.
Middle school
- Real science: classify galaxies for 15 minutes on Zooniverse.
- What-if journal: write 3 “what if…” questions; research one.
- Fly the solar system: NASA Eyes, then sketch a planet’s orbit.
High school
- Puzzle a secret: try one beginner challenge on picoCTF; log what you tried.
- Long read: pick a free classic on Project Gutenberg, read 20 minutes a day.
- 2-minute talk: present one thing you wondered about to the family.
